What I love about Christmas at home

Other than the obvious 'family, friends, food', the following pictures are things I especially love about Christmas at home:

Home made ornaments and crafts!

Mom's Christmas Eve Chinese Food Buffet!
(These pictures were taken after the Buffet. This year it was not on Christmas Eve, but on the 22nd. There were 12 of us this year.)

Super cute presents!
I love to wrap presents and I especially enjoy making them almost as much fun to look at as they are to open :)

Decorating the house and the tree!
Every year is the same: Dad and I pick out the tree and bring it home. Mom and Dad and I (and whoever else is home at the time) put it up and make sure it's straight, centered in the window, and turned the right way. This usually results in some frustration and yelling. Everyone gets annoyed with the tree, so Mom and I are left to decorate it. We both put the lights (1,800 of them!) and the garland on together, then Mom puts all the ornaments on hangers and I put them on the tree. This year, the tree fell over a couple of days after we decorated it, so you may notice some spots where the lights and decorations are a bit off.

The thing I'm most excited about this Christmas is that Steve is here with me!
This is our most successful attempt at getting a picture by the tree (so far). I still don't consider it our "official" 1st Christmas picture, but it's fine for now :)

  1. It should be noted that "yelling" in our house is what many would consider speaking slightly louder than normal. It is a very rare occasion when there is actual "yelling". We have always tried to live by the words of Pres. David O. McKay who said, “...never speak in loud tones to each other, ‘unless the house is on fire’” :D Frustration with that crazy tree however is a whole different story!
