I love trying new recipes, especially desserts! Mom sent me the recipe for Cake Balls. I thought they would make a nice dessert for Sunday dinner with Steve's family.
This is an excellent website explaining the various ways of how to make cake balls:
Typically, they are coated in chocolate, however, I had a really hard time getting them to look perfect. I decided to drizzle them with chocolate instead. I think they turned out pretty great.
(I like Strawberries with my chocolate desserts!)
I have a new obsession: GEOCACHING!
Steve and I have found 2 caches so far. We're definitely beginners, but I've been loving it! It's just so exciting to find the treasure at the end of the search :) Even if it's just a piece of paper that you sign in order to tell future geocachers that you found it :)
I didn't think to take my camera on our first trip, and made sure to bring it on the next one.
This is where the GPS coordinates sent us...
So we searched the area...
Steve found the cache in the tree...
This was our first time finding an actual container. The first time we went it was a 'micro cache' which means it's tiny with no room for 'stuff'. It was just a piece of paper. This is a bigger cache and had items in it to trade or look at and leave. Steve is examining it ...
Steve opened the container...
The contents are a secret :) You'll have to go geocaching! It's all over the world and for anyone and everyone!
We left a monocular and took a guitar pick.
One of the many reasons I love to geocache is for the photographic opportunities!
Amy they look delicious. I'm going to try the German chocolate and pecan icing. That sounds so good.
ReplyDeleteCake balls are amazing. We love them. I looked at the link but it all looked so complicated and fussy which is unfortunate because they are so simple.
We made our first batch - which made tons more than 30! - and dipped them in chocolate without any problem, just using a regular teaspoon. They really are easy to make and not nearly as messy as you would think.
Amy we enjoyed our fishcakes. Yummy recipe.
The link re: cake balls does have a lot of variations on techniques which may make it seem difficult, but it's mostly useful for the many cake/icing combinations to try!
